Government Car Auctions
All government car auctions function a little different; however, there are many uniform standards that apply to all. Learning a bit about how these auctions work could enable you to purchase a great car at a fraction of its actual value.
Many people don’t actually realize that they can attend government car auctions. People end up spending far more than necessary, when, with a little time and effort at an auction, you could end up with a great car for a great price.
As with buying any used car, it’s a good idea to check out your options before bidding. Most auction sites will allow you to view the available vehicles a day or two before the auction. Many will often provide information on each vehicle, which will help you decide if it’s a good investment. If information is not provided, you can make note of the vehicle’s VIN number and research it on your own.
On the day of the auction, be ready to bid aggressively on the car you want. It’s possible that there will be heavy competition, and if you’re not prepared for it, you may lose to another bidder. Be sure, however, to have a set limit on how much you’re willing to spend; if the bidding exceeds your budget, then it may be better to drop out than to spend more than the car is worth.
Don’t worry if you don’t win. It’s possible that you may have to try more than once before you get the car you want at the price you want to spend. If you’re patient and consistent, you’ll soon find the right car at the right price.
Many government car auctions will start the bidding as low as $100, and you can usually expect to spend no more than a few thousand dollars.
